23/02/2007 - Lucie Silvas
Biography
Lucie Silvas is a dynamic, new British talent with an incredible voice, star appeal and a luminousness that truly sets her apart from other female singer/songwriters. Her remarkable debut album, ‘Breathe In’, produced by Mike Peden (Des’ree, Shara Nelson), will be released on October 11 2004 on Mercury Records.
Lucie is the real deal. A gifted, versatile singer with the vocal range of Christina Aguilera and a striking songwriting sensibility all of her own. A natural performer, she has a sensitivity to emotion, melody and storytelling that belies her 24 years. With such singular talent it is no surprise that Lucie counts Chris Martin, Burt Bacharach and Lionel Richie as fans.
Lucie grew up immersed in music. She started playing piano at the age of 5, and at the age of 10 composed her first love song. According to Lucie; “When everyone at school was listening to Bros, I was listening to gospel music, Stevie Wonder, Nat King Cole and The Carpenters. Especially, The Carpenters, Karen’s voice was just amazing”.
After several false starts, Lucie, signed now to Mercury Records, has produced an exceptional and truly personal album full of piano driven gems, “My album is about true things that have happened. Either to me, or to my friends or my family”. Album highlights range from the stark simplicity of, ‘Forget Me Not’, just Lucie and the piano, to the exhilarating big productions of, ‘Don’t Look Back’ and ‘The Game Is Won’.
Having supported Macy Gray, written songs for Rachel Stevens, Gareth Gates and Liberty X, including the hit track, ‘Jumpin’’, Lucie has taken the time to find a record contract and a sound that truly accommodates her talent and reflects her style. It is in singer/songwriter mode that Lucie really excels and feels most at home. Lucie says; “I’ve finally worked out what being Lucie Silvas is, its taken awhile to get there, but now I can say ‘This is me. This who I am’.

23/02/2007 - Gavin DeGraw
Gavin DeGraw Singer/songwriter Gavin DeGraw grew up playing music at home with piano studies beginning at eight and later playing in cover bands with his older brother in upstate New York. After a brief stint studying music at the prestigious Berklee School of Music, DeGraw, who had been writing his own songs since his cover band days, decided to make a go of it as a singer/songwriter in New York City. Upon his arrival in the late '90s, DeGraw made an impression with crowds, and occasionally with journalists, as his name began to pop up in columns and best-of lists. The steady buzz led to offers from major labels, but DeGraw chose to take his time, and let his craft develop and his audience grow. He eventually signed a record deal with Clive Davis and his J Records imprint (home of Santana as well as R&B mainstays Alicia Keys and Angie Stone). DeGraw's debut, Chariot, arrived in the summer of 2003 and, like his early days in New York City, it slowly built momentum and earned the young singer a small but fervent following. ~ Wade Kergan, All Music Guide

8/07/2006 - James Blunt Blognieuws
1st July 2006
It's been 2 months
since I've last posted, and the World Tour is still up and running -
just. We've been to Japan who are the most polite nation on the planet.
They are also very patient. One fan saw me leaving my hotel, and so
waited until I returned later to get an autograph - 16 hours later! We
flew back to the States for the Coachella Festival and then on to
Mexico. The Mexican audiences were the loudest we've ever heard, and
for a moment it was like being in the Beatles... I aquired an enormous
sombrero, which sadly has since been lost in transit, (Ben ate it), but
it was great to wear for one song. This was our first taste of a Latin
American audience, and I can only hope we get down to South America in
the not-too-distant future. From there we returned to the States. We
started doing the Backstage Pass Charity Auction each night in aid of
Medicins Sans Frontieres, and remarkably raised $33,400 in ten days. I
was blown away by people's generosity. Thank you to all who took part.
I have to meet a lot of people after every show, but for me, meeting
people who have been part of the auction is always the most rewarding.
It seems people were genuinely enthusiastic to be able to donate to a
worthy cause rather than just come backstage. It was a great run of
shows and good to see so many recognisable faces over there now.
I took my first holiday in a while, but then everyone knows about that
because a photographer hiding on the beach sold pictures to the
newspapers. I wonder who he photographs when there are no recognisable
faces on the beach? My money is all the topless girls. We used to call
these people Peeping Toms. Now we pay them.
And now we are back in Britain. The Wireless Festival was great fun.
London is home, and I've been away so long, but it was great to be
back. There were a whole crowd of boardies to welcome us home. It was
great to see all your faces up around the front and I'm glad to hear
you had a good time. Thanks for making the effort to come and make us
feel at home again! If the weather holds, then we should have some
really fun shows in the next few open air shows. At Blenheim Palace,
where I am now, we're trying to do something special - as it's the
World Cup, and England are through to the quarter-finals, we're
replacing our usual projector and screen system that we use to show
video behind us during the show, and hiring a huge LED screen so that
we can show the football match to all of you who turn up early at the
Blenheim Palace show. With a bit of dodgy wiring, we've got the
broadcast running through it now, and we've soundchecked early, so are
able to open doors to let you in to catch the second half... Of course,
Brian, my guitar tech, is Scottish, and has signed the production
office "The Portugese Consulate".
